Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Cartel Arms collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written for a firearms dealer, so a few sections are specific to licensed products.

Who is responsible

Cartel Arms (“CARTEL”, “we”, “us”) is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website and through our premises at 104 Felix Dlamini Road, Overport, Durban. We are a licensed firearms, ammunition and reloading-equipment dealer.

Questions about this policy, or about the information we hold about you, can be sent to info@cartelprecision.co.za or raised in store with any member of staff.

What we collect

We only collect what we need in order to answer an enquiry, prepare a quote, process a booking, or send you something you asked for. Depending on how you interact with us, that can include:

  • Your name, email address and telephone number.
  • The products you have added to an enquiry or enquiry list and any message you attach to them.
  • Your self-declared firearm licence status (for example, competency certificate held, or application in progress). This is a statement you make to us, not a document we verify online.
  • Booking details — date, time slot, number of shooters and deposit payment status — when you book range time.
  • Your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter.
  • Basic technical information about your visit, such as browser type and pages viewed, collected automatically for security and to keep the site working.

Why we collect it and on what basis

We process personal information for the following purposes, on the lawful bases set out in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA):

  • To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote — consent and the steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
  • To check stock, arrange payment and hand over goods lawfully, including meeting our Firearms Control Act obligations — legal obligation.
  • To manage a range booking and its deposit — contract and legal obligation.
  • To send the newsletter you subscribed to — consent, withdrawable at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • To keep the site secure and working — legitimate interest.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not take card details on this website: every order starts as an enquiry and payment is made in store or against an invoice. We do not ask for your licence details, licence number or identity number online and we do not need them to quote you.

We never ask you to send us a copy of your licence card by email or WhatsApp.

Who else sees your information

We share information only with the parties who need it to fulfil what you asked for: our payment processor (PayFast) for booking deposits, our email provider for messages we send you and our hosting provider for the website itself. Each is bound by its own confidentiality obligations.

We will disclose information where we are legally required to — for example, in response to a lawful police request or a SAPS firearms enquiry, where the Firearms Control Act or its regulations oblige us to.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and to meet our record-keeping duties and are then archived or deleted. Booking and transaction records are kept for the period required by law. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it where we are not required to keep it. You may also object to certain processing and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email info@cartelprecision.co.za with your request and enough detail for us to find your records; we aim to respond within a reasonable time.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Your enquiry list is kept in your own browser's local storage and is not sent anywhere until you submit it. Administrative access is restricted and password-protected.
